If it’s been years since you left university or college and you think it’s too late to make a change in your career and learn new skills, we’re pleased to tell you you’re wrong!
We’ve learnt that it’s never too late to improve your skillset and enhance your career prospects. Our students are testament to that, and range from as young as 18, right up to people in their 70s learning how to use a computer for the first time.
Students report back to us and say their decision to undertake an adult learning course has been extremely rewarding. This time, it’s been their choice to study. It’s not like school – there are no timetables, no term dates – you simply drop into one of our centres and study when you have the time. You can even study some of our courses from home if it suits you better.
Here are 5 reasons gaining a new qualification can change your life for the better:
1: Boost your CV and enhance your employability– Earning a new qualification does not just enable you to show off your new skill on your CV – it shows employers that you are dedicated and motivated to succeed in your career, and makes you a more attractive prospect. People who show ambition and invest in themselves are more likely to get hired than people who don’t.
2. Increase your salary – Having updated skills, and the desire to improve your career will do wonders in helping you get a better paid job, or a promotion. In fact, it’s common for our students to be offered promotions at their current workplaces after undertaking training with us.
3. Grow your confidence – Many of our students leave feeling invigorated and with a new found confidence in their skills and ability. Think about how easier discussing your skills in interviews will be if you are properly skilled to a high level.
4. Change your career – Are you looking for a new direction in your career? It’s virtually impossible to change careers without training. Whilst it is often thought that most employers look for work experience, some may not, as research undertaken by the Home Learning College has shown. They found that just under half of employers hire people for an entry level position who were qualified but had no previous experience in the role.
5. Stay ahead of the times – There’s no better way to stay up to date with the latest in office technology than by taking a training course. If you’ve been out of work for a while, it’s strongly recommended that you find out where your skills will need to be refreshed before you start applying for jobs.
