Training Reseller Status.
Pitman Training franchisee, Holborn Training which runs office skills training centres in London in Notting Hill and High Holborn, and also in Manchester, has been granted authorised reseller status for IBM Training.
Holborn Training, which is best known for offering secretarial training, bookkeeping courses and MS Office training, passed a rigorous selection process in which the organisation’s financial strength and training depth was assessed by the giant high tech multi-national.
Shilpa Wymer, Managing Director of Holborn Training adds, “The selection process followed our own search for a respected name with whom we could broaden our portfolio of course offerings.”
“Already successful with Pitman Training, which we hold up as a beacon of training excellence, we set out this year to identify an additional training partner. Our criteria were that the new partner must not compete with Pitman Training, that it should have a large portfolio of courses and that it must be a highly respected and long-established brand.”
“We discovered that IBM was looking for an additional training reseller and they were an obvious fit for us. For IBM it was a bit more difficult because our business model is different from what they are used to but we were able to persuade them that we were credible and finally won authorization.”
IBM’s range of courses is largely delivered in a classroom style and covers product areas such as Lotus Notes courses, Domino, Tivoli, Cognos and Rational among others.
The courses are mostly aimed at database administrators and mainframe technicians and Holborn Training clearly sees this as a route into the profitable corporate market where it has traditionally been under-represented.
The company’s Marketing Director, Keith Wymer, says entry to the corporate market was not the only attraction of IBM:
“We also wanted to stretch ourselves in terms of servicing large organisations with highly technical courses as a means of keeping our own Course Advisory Team fresh and involved in our growth."
"It’s something new for us, a lot to learn and very exciting!” He continues: “It’s going to be an interesting dynamic for us to operate as an enrolment service for other people’s courses and we are working hard at expressing how we add value to the booking process for IBM’s highly respected training programmes.” Ends. 11/10/10
