Perfecting Your Secretarial CV

If you have just completed secretarial training, you’re probably thinking about applying for the jobs that you worked so hard to get into. The first step you take towards obtaining your dream job should be to perfect your CV. Your CV is what gives employers a first impression of you and ultimately help them decide whether or not to give you an interview. Your CV should therefore highlight all your relevant skills perfectly.

In an attempt to help our students get their desired job, we started partnering with one of the best CV writing companies in the UK – the CV Centre. There were many options to choose from, but as our research showed they are the most suitable for us. Holborn Training would recommend you to use professional services of the CV Centre in order to improve your chances of getting an interview and have a good advantage over other applicants.

You should always start your CV by including your name, address and contact information. This should be displayed prominently at the top of the page – employers should know how to contact you if they want to give you an interview! If it has been a while since you have updated your CV, make sure this information is accurate and up to date.

You should then list all your work experience and relevant qualifications in chronological order. Make sure you put particular emphasis on any secretary qualifications you have. You should also include any work-related training you may have had, such as any bookkeeping or payroll courses you may have completed. Even if some of your experience isn’t directly relevant to the position you are applying for, try to identify any skills you learned which could help you in your future career.

Even if you’re planning on applying for hundreds of jobs, you should take the time to cater your CV for the position you’re applying for. Employers will appreciate the time you’ve taken to consider how you could fit into the role.
